Fabrics made from recycled materials: how to choose

Window covering fabrics can contain recycled fibres. The proportion and origin depend on the collection, so base your choice on the material's composition rather than a general sustainability claim.

01 / Fabric properties

An informed choice starts with composition.

Ask for the specific fabric's data: how much is recycled, and how is this verified? A collection may contain different versions, so the material code matters too.

A product description should distinguish facts about composition from general environmental claims. Recycled fibre alone does not prove that the entire product is recyclable or has a lower impact in every respect.

Appearance and function still matter.

You are choosing fabric for everyday use. Compare its texture, colour, light transmission and care requirements. Recycled content does not remove the need to choose the right level of darkness or visibility outside.

Key points: a fabric's composition does not tell you how much light it transmits.

Different labels mean different things.

“PVC-free” and “made from recycled materials” are not synonyms. One certificate does not necessarily substantiate every advertised property. Check what the document actually covers.

During your consultation, we can discuss your preferred colour, intended use and the material information you need. Available options must be checked against the current collection.

Frequently asked questions

Does recycled fabric necessarily let light through?

No. Its light properties depend on its construction and finish.

Can one recycled-content percentage be stated for an entire collection?

Only if the manufacturer's documentation clearly confirms it for every version.
